Facilitator Checklist

Group Facilitators are a very important part of the small group leadership!  They strive to provide a warm, friendly environment to help members feel accepted and welcome.

• introduce new members to one another during the first meeting
• provide positive feedback and support to members
• talk with the shy or quieter members before and after meetings
• keep in touch with members between meetings

• starts and stops meetings on time
• help jump start discussion when it lags

An important facilitator job is to evaluate the group on a regular basis.

• What’s going well in the group? What’s not?
• Who’s hurting in the group?
• Who’s growing in the group?
• Do we need outside resources or advice?

Facilitators organize the group to meet practical needs in the group

• helps the group plan how it will meet using the group planning guide (see covenant).

• fills out the planning list during the first week the group meets to schedule meeting locations, discussion leaders, and food arrangements, and then distributes the schedule to group members
• facilitates communication by sending email addresses around as well as weekly prayer requests. 

• Is the "go to" person for the group.

• organizes care for group members who experience time of illness or crisis.
